Main Fields of Study

  • Molecular Genetics: Courses in genetics, biochemistry, biology of the cell, molecular biology and hereditary factor, educate students in the advanced theories of molecular biology and its applications in science and medicine. This is the base to understanding the essence of DNA and how genetic information is used in creating proteins and its duplication processes. Studies also include the hereditary factor, genetic counseling and curing disease through genetics.

  • Microbiology: Courses in general and medical microbiology, virology and immunology focus of the world of germs and viruses as a cause of disease and the function of the immune system. A focus is placed on the pathogenic view of germs and viruses to the clinical view that deals primarily with bodily harm. Courses emphasize the immune system such as immunology of the cancer process, autoimmune diseases and the body's response to transplants.

  • Biotechnology: Courses in biotechnology and bioinformation focus on the use of molecular biology in science and industry.

  • Medicine: Courses in pathology, clinical biochemistry, hematology, physiology, endocrinology, parasitology and pharmacology give students a broad base of knowledge to understand the human body's system. An emphasis is placed upon subjects that deal with systems and body parts in a clinical setting. For example: biochemistry and metabolism problems; endocrinology and hormonal problems and its effects on the body; pharmacology and the effects on the body cells and parts.
