The department focuses on three main subjects: digital media, mass communications and its pace in our society and culture. The goal of the program is to give future photographers an in-depth, broad social/cultural perspective. Graduates will specialize in business/advertising photography as well as news/documentary photography. The program will provide students with tools to gain a unique perspective of the complex nature of the world in which we live; courses will offer students insight into the inherent complexities of representing society and the individual. Materials will be complemented by the study of the ethical issues in the world of communications.
The academic studies will expand the awareness of the photographer's professional capabilities that stand in collaboration with the forces of society and government. As a photographer, the student becomes a communicator, equipped with tools, understanding and motivation to develop individual style and discover inner artistic potential.
Study Objectives
Graduates will receive an academic degree (B.A.), which is recognized by the Council of Higher Education.

Full high school matriculation and psychometric examination calculated together with the department's admission requirements and personal interview.

New study track in Interactive Communications
A new study track, Interactive Communications has opened for the academic year 2011-12. The program in interactive communications offers a minor that is unique in Israel. It focuses on new technologies and applications which impact today's society. The curriculum includes advanced technological imaging and the meaning and use of these applications. Subjects included are three-dimensional photography, alternative focal methods, virtual reality, augmented reality, photography in an interactive environment, video, animation and more. These technologies are being used in many fields such as medicine, defense, archeology, architecture, museums, industry and more. Broaden studies of photography parallel to these technologies will be emphasized as well as the use in internet and web development. On the communications spectrum, studies will concentrate on social networks, news media and information media (I.T. media convergence).
This program with both theoretical and practical studies offers an interdisciplinary study format combining today's development skills to future developments.
